Estepona and around

Estepona town

apartmán Golf Estepona

Originally a small fishing village, now a seaside resort that is popular all-year-round. The average annual temperature is 17ºC with mostly sunny days. Estepona is mainly visited for golf and its large beaches. It is also an ideal starting point for excursions, located between Malaga and Gibraltar, near the Sierra Bermeja Mountains. Great Andalusian cities, Granada, Seville or Cadiz, are easily reached by motorway. Here you can find our tips on places to visit: Trips

Estepona’s historic Barrio de la Villa is the true essence of Andalusia. Narrow streets with white painted houses decorated with pots, restaurants and tempting tapas bars. Visit Plaza del Reloj, the Market Hall or the Archaeological Museum. There are remains of the Castillo de San Luis medieval castle, located right inside the town. Estepona also houses a famous horse riding school.

Restaurants

The nearest restaurant is located in Valle Romano at the Golf Club, and is also open to guests, non-members.

The city has the most restaurants, cafes and bars in the historic centre and in the harbour. On the beaches, you will find typical chiringuitos – restaurants, with their main specialty – Espetos de sardinas (skewered sardines prepared on hot coals). Attention – most restaurants close in the afternoon, their chefs leave between 3 pm and 7 pm. Fast food and tapas bars are open all day.

Shopping

There is a small grocery store in Valle Romano, just a few meters from the apartment. Supermarkets are located in Estepona, 10 minutes by car from the apartment – Carrefour, Mercadona and others. Here you will find all sorts of groceries, as well as a great selection of fruits, vegetables, fresh fish and seafood.

For fashion (clothes and shoes) shopping, we recommend the shopping center Centro Comercial La Cañada near Marbella, or Malaga city centre, Larios street. Luxury boutiques can be found in Puerto Banus. The largest stores of El Corte Ingles are in Marbella and Malaga.

Each town also organises a mercadillo or rastro market one day a week, where you can get interesting things, from souvenirs to clothing, fruits and vegetables. Always in the morning between 9 am and 2 pm.
